BMW Immobilizer (EWS) Removal SERVICE FAQ

What is an immobilizer (EWS) system in a BMW?

The immobilizer, also known as EWS (Elektronische Wegfahrsperre), is an anti-theft system that prevents the engine from starting without the correct key. It ensures that only a synchronized key can start the engine.

Why would I need to remove or bypass the BMW immobilizer?

Immobilizer removal is often necessary if you are performing an engine swap, have lost or damaged your key, or if the EWS system is malfunctioning, preventing your car from starting.

Is it legal to remove the immobilizer from my BMW?

In many cases, immobilizer removal is legal when done for legitimate reasons, such as repairs or engine swaps. However, using it to bypass theft prevention is illegal. Always check your local regulations.

Will removing the immobilizer affect other vehicle systems?

No, removing or bypassing the immobilizer typically does not affect other systems if done correctly. The process only disables the link between the key and ECU, leaving the car’s other electronics and features unaffected.

Does removing the immobilizer improve performance?

No, immobilizer removal does not affect the performance of your BMW. It only allows the engine to start without the key being synchronized with the ECU.

How long does it take to remove or bypass the BMW immobilizer?

The process generally takes a few days, depending on whether you need to ship your ECU for reprogramming. Once the ECU is received, the immobilizer removal programming typically takes 1 business day.

Do you provide a warranty on Immobilizer (EWS) removal?

Yes, all Immobilizer (EWS) removals and replacements come with a 1-year warranty, covering both parts and labor. We also offer 30 days of free technical support post-repair to ensure your complete satisfaction.

Can I reverse the immobilizer removal process?

Yes, in most cases, the immobilizer removal process can be reversed by reprogramming the ECU back to its original settings. However, this may require additional work and costs.

Will my car be vulnerable to theft after immobilizer removal?

Removing the immobilizer (EWS) system can make your vehicle easier to start without the proper key, potentially reducing its anti-theft capabilities. It’s recommended to use other security measures, such as an aftermarket alarm or steering wheel lock, after the immobilizer is removed.

Can I still use all my keys after the immobilizer is removed?

Yes, your existing keys will still work to lock and unlock the vehicle, but the immobilizer function (preventing the car from starting without key synchronization) will be disabled.
